Samsung Intensity II - Available on Verizon Wireless

The Intensity II is a sequel to the original Samsung Intensity which was also available on Verizon Wireless. Samsung claims the phone is eco-friendly as most of the packaging and components of the phone are made up from recycled materials. The Intensity II is similar to its precedecessor in terms on design. It measures 124 X 73 X 17.9 mm and is quite lightweight at 116 grams. Overall, the handset is compact and easy to handle. The phone's 2.2 inches screen supports QVGA resolution of 240 X 320 pixels and 256K colors which offers a clear and crisp display. Now lets have a look at the various buttons and slots on the phone. Below the display, a navigation pad is provided for easy access on the screen. On the left, you'll find two soft keys which can be used when the display is in landscape mode, volume rocker and microUSB slot. On the right, we have the dedicated camera button, microSD card slot and voice search button.

Samsung Intensity II comes with a sturdy sliding mechanism 4-rows QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the precedecessor, separate keys for functions like choosing favorite contacts, create new message and adding emoticons are provided on the keyboard. This phone is something which text crazy people would love to have. The layout of the keys allows users to type quickly without having any difficulty. Messaging options include SMS, MMS, E-mail and Instant messasing.

The handset comes with a 1.3 megapixel resolution camera which many will consider pretty ordinary considering most phones these days come with atleast a 2 megapixel camera. Although, the camera is not the high point of the phone, it still manages to take some decent images of upto 1280 X 1024 pixels. Various settings like color effects, white balance, metering, sound effect, night vision mode are provided. However, there is no flash and video recording support.

Moving on the multimedia features, the Intensity II has a music player which supports MP3/AAC+/WMA files. Users can sort the songs by their genres, artists, albums, etc. Video playback is also supported via its media player which supports MP4/H.263 files. Sound quality of the phone speakers and headsets is pretty good. Users can also customize the look of the player using various options like visualizer, album art, etc. The major disappointment is that it doesn't support multitasking which means you can't do anything else while using the music player.

Although, the Intensity II is not that great in terms on features, it offers good value for money. The handset is available in 2 colors (Deep Gray, Metallic Blue) exclusively on Verizon Wireless.
